Outriders: Is there life after endgame?

Now, after a couple of months after the release, when the amazing hype around the new product has died down, and the developers have uploaded several large patches with fixes, we are going to talk about the endgame, the current online and current problems of Outriders.

Such a strange case happened with Outriders : critics rightly scolded the game, gamers supported the mood of the media, the majority humanely agreed on the label “mediocrity”, and the Friv2Online Games Studio project continued to expand and be in demand on all platforms, for a long time ahead of much more thorough competitors and in sales part, and online part.

It seems that we (here we are talking about aliums from the Cubiq editors) and they, all these users, wandering around the impossibly narrow, similar corridors on Enoch, are exploring different worlds. Perhaps the latter really got the “co-op online shooter” that Square Enix presented the product to, and we get its single-player version?

The players could not fail to notice that it is almost impossible to find a random house for the joint passage of the Outriders story, and playing with comrades is one big disconnect. However, in the friv game scenario, he is the only pioneer alium, so even if you had partners, they would still be cut out of the plot cutscenes, and those around them would not notice them.

The worst situation is with cross-platform play, for which Outriders does not have an adequate friend list, there is no voice communication, but crashes, glitches and ping problems ( when, due to a lag, it is impossible to count the attacking animations of monsters or such critical mechanics as reviving a comrade do not work ) The usual thing. Even now, after several updates, supposedly everything is ruling.

After all, Outriders regulars cannot but understand that customization in the form of coloring a car (which, of course, cannot be driven) and selecting pictures for a standard with such elaborate, diverse armor and guns is a form of mockery. As well as dangerous zones lost in tall grass, or boring mechanics of the same bosses, or collecting all the achievements and all the magazines again when you start the game as an alternative alium.

Outriders managed to spoil even the impressions of the final (actually rather ordinary) screensaver by covering half of the screen with a field with subtitles, which remained hanging there until the very last scene. And that's all, I repeat, after a few not the smallest patches.

In short, the technical side of Outriders still leaves much to be desired, and the structure of the game is unlikely to be affected by any changes, so it remains to either accept or let go. As for the endgame, it can be conditionally divided into "Expeditions" that open after completing the main story, and performing additional activities on the world map.

If you studied the plot and did not turn off much, by the end of the friv game you will have unfinished side quests. Some are found on well-trodden paths, others are given out by local residents in cities and camps. As a rule, such tasks will lead you to a new, previously unexplored area, and tell some side story.

In addition, in areas where you can’t penetrate in any way other than on a side errand, there may be additional entries for the encyclopedia. Let me remind you that the main part of the game lore in Outriders is served in the form of records. Curious aliums should definitely take a closer look at the exclamation marks.

You will receive your first collection errand from the storyteller Madame Beauvoir in Rift Town. The shopkeeper will gladly accept as a gift rare trinkets brought from Earth by the colonists, and as a reward she will share some kind of weapon or equipment.

Her orders are raids on areas with a high concentration of enemies, who probably don’t even know that you have come to dig out a miraculously preserved lipstick or someone’s broken smartphone from a pile of rubbish nearby. Nothing unusual, except that the complexity there is somewhat higher than in the adjacent story zone.

Access to tasks related to the search and elimination of especially dangerous criminals can be obtained from a muddy type named Ujio, who occupied the VIP room of a bar in Trench Town. After talking with him, you will find active posters in the world with an unfriendly face and the inscription Wanted.

Having torn off the poster, your alium accepts the contract, and somewhere nearby the corresponding humanoid boss with a serious retinue will immediately spawn. For the "ears" of these comrades rely on experience points and valuable rewards. Not a bad way, by the way, to get hold of the first epic weapon at an early stage of the friv game.

In the same establishment, the bartender Noy collects the heads of aggressive fauna, offering similar contracts, but for monsters with special mutations. The principle is the same as with bandits, only instead of posters you will scour the trail of monsters.

If by the end of the game your alium has reached the maximum level of 30, and the level of the world has not yet risen to the 15th, side quests are a great way to pump it with meaning, and when you get tired of loitering, you can go on expeditions.

In the finale of Outriders, Zahedi still manages to make contact with the planet Flores hanging in orbit. Using the Caravelle's communication systems, the scientist initiates the launch of humanitarian capsules, which rain down fire on Enoch in various areas. The extraction of contents is the main goal of the expeditions.

Players get access to a new map divided into fourteen areas. There are several entry points, and their rotation is constantly changing. At the fourth, eighth, twelfth and fifteenth levels of the tests, access to additional "paid" expeditions is opened.

Each trip, a team of three aliums (if you are puzzled by finding a group) rush through several stages, during which, as a rule, they hold some area, fight a huge number of enemies, kill bosses, and at the end blissfully watch how the found capsule gushes with colorful loot.

Challenge levels work in much the same way as world levels. Three are available first. When passing the expedition at the maximum possible, the next one opens, and so on up to the fifteenth. Each new level becomes a modifier that increases the power of enemies and the chance to get more valuable loot.

And speed is also important. A certain time is allotted for the successful passage of each expedition. As in racing - bronze, silver and gold, as well as bonus levels for the fastest passage. The better the team's score, the richer the reward at the end of the mission.

By the way, a new resource is still falling from the capsules. This is what is called a “resource from capsules”. Thiago exchanges epic and even legendary clothes for him, though he asks a huge amount for them. The same resource is spent on access to "paid" expeditions and is exchanged one for one for titanium.

Players, serving on expeditions with randoms, noted the activity of “griefers”, who, out of harm, excluded them from the group before they had time to get to the loot capsules. To be honest, we have never encountered anything like this, although we often “got on the tail” of a random alium.

But we noticed how crookedly matchmaking works in Outriders. If there are two of you, then you either make your group open and wait an indefinite amount of time for someone to join you, or try to find a friv game for two and the system throws you to the lone leader.

In the first option, you never know how long the player will have to wait, and the second one works every other time. In half of the cases, when trying to join a third player, the game either crashed, or connected only one of us, and the second one was thrown out of the group.

Moreover, you can easily appear in an expedition that has long been initiated by the player. But instead of transferring you to it, the system throws the newly arrived aliums to the very beginning of the location and makes them run while the third fights with opponents on the front line.

A nice bonus at the end is detailed statistics, which contains numbers on mods, guns and abilities used by players in battle. Based on the numbers received, you can try to adjust or revise (and also peep) the build.

Apart from the connection quality problems, which will probably be resolved one day, the end-game activity can be considered successful. Fortunately, the scope for building builds in Outriders is quite serious, the races are dynamic enough not to tire too much, and there are more than enough players to join.
