Gambling streaming: Twitch announces stricter rules
The streaming platform Twitch was originally founded to provide streams of video games. In the meantime, however, the offering has expanded significantly. Gambling streamers in particular are therefore to be subject to stricter rules in the coming months.
Streaming was already widespread in Germany before gambling legalization
The US company Twitch is the epitome of the rise in digital culture. For years, the streaming platform has been the first port of call when it comes to video game streaming. But it doesn't stop there. Also, for many years, gamers have also been using Twitch's services. No gambling advertising on Twitch
De facto, this does not ban the streaming of gambling games. However, Twitch will deprive streamers of the opportunity to turn their activities into cash if gambling ads are no longer possible. It is said that the company should reserve the right to take further steps if the streamers violate the new guidelines. Officially, the company says that the main purpose of the restriction is to stop advertising for illegal and questionable casino sites. At the same time, the company said that it would continue to monitor gambling streamers and, if necessary, adjust its handling. Many of the really big gambling streamers on Twitch have meanwhile migrated to other areas anyway.
